The North Suburban Fast Pitch League (“NSFPL”) was organized by the Trevian Girls Softball Association in 1991 to promote competitive girls fastpitch softball play in Chicago’s north suburban area. The Trevian Girls Softball Association continues to organize and manage the league each year. The NSFPL has grown to cover a much larger geographic area, and at times has had more than 120 teams in a single year playing under the league banner. In 2022, there were 101 teams competing in the 10U-16U age groups in multiple competitive divisions.
The current NSFPL Commissioner is Dana Dolinko. Dana played for two different NSFPL club programs during her club travel career (Trevians, 2006-2011; Vernon Hills Stingers, 2012-2015). She is a graduate of New Trier High School (2015) and was a member of the New Trier Varsity in 2014 and 2015, catching in 2014 and pitching in 2015. Her senior high school season she earned Central Suburban League All-Conference honors, was the 22nd Century Media All-Area First Team pitcher, and was awarded New Trier’s Ari Chester Memorial Scholarship. She then played for Union College (2019) in Schenectady, New York, where she was in the lineup virtually every inning of every game, starting 120 games as either a pitcher, second baseman or shortstop. She made 84 pitching appearances in four seasons (third all-time at Union), starting 66 games (fourth all-time), and recorded 29 complete games. In 2017, she started 23 games and lodged 29 appearances (both second all-time). She tossed a total of 343 innings in her college career (tenth all-time). As a senior co-captain, she hit .304, with 10 doubles, 1 triple and 1 home run, with 24 RBI and a team-high 45 total bases. Dana earned Liberty League All-Academic Team honors all three years she was eligible (2017-2019), and was a Division III NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete in both 2018 and 2019. A combined biology/physics major, Dana is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences with hopes to attend medical school next year. Dana is also the co-head coach along with her dad for the Trevians 18 college showcase team, where she enjoys working with him and bringing her knowledge of the game to the high-level of competitive travel softball played by the Trevians 18 team.
